Over the last 12 months I've been researching the fascinating world of colour and its relationship to the zodiacal archetypes and to the four elements. From the greens and browns of Earth to the bright reds and yellows of Fire each colour has a relationship to an element and to a zodiac sign. Traditionally, Aries has been associated with the colour Red - but did you know that Shocking Pink is also an Aries colour?

In July 2026 there will be an unusual configuration of planets as Pluto in Aquarius, Neptune in Aries and Uranus in Gemini form what I call a 'bridged trine' - a trine (two planets 120 degrees apart, in this case Pluto and Uranus) that has a third planet at its centre, sextiling (i.e. 60 degrees apart) both.

The last time such a configuration occurred between these three planets in this order, to a similar degree of exactitude, was in the late summer of 2434 BCE - the time of the 5th Dynasty in ancient Egypt - the expansion of the cult of the Sun God Ra and construction of sun temples.

What makes this bridged trine especially notable is that it involves all three outer planets - the planets that symbolise long-term generational changes as well as parts of ourselves that can be disruptive or require an initiation process to be able to integrate healthily into our lives. The signs that Pluto and Uranus are in - Aquarius and Gemini - both relate to technology, so it is little wonder that it is bringing about such change in so many parts of our lives right now.

What makes this planetary pattern even more notable is that it is joined by a fourth planet, Jupiter - which is just about to enter Leo, on Tuesday 30th of June. Jupiter will thus oppose Pluto and be part of a second bridged trine with Neptune, this time with Uranus forming the 'bridge'. The total pattern of four main planets is forming what astrologers call a Cradle. Given that they are in air and fire signs it is an 'Air/Fire Cradle', with the potential to bring about intellectual synthesis, creative ideas and mass social engagement.

​It is hard to foretell what all this means, but my guess is that events will move quickly, as they often do with trines, and that the changes that occur at this time will affect us all. Being trines and sextiles it may feel positive - like being suddenly released from long-standing tensions, or the resolution of seemingly irreconcilable problems. The opposition between Jupiter and Pluto is one of those candidates for a major economic correction - the colossal investments in AI, and the power and influence AI and tech companies are wielding could overreach, leading to a bursting of the bubble. Alternatively, the mighty 'tech bros' - or possibly the people (since Pluto rules amongst other things, mass movements) - might wield their power against a once-popular ruler who has become too inflated with self-importance, or who is creating sun god-like monuments to their own grandeur (Jupiter in Leo). Hopefully the easy flow of energy through the sextiles and trines will lead not to distraction or escapism but to creative responses to dealing with a crisis.

Either way, these multiple patterns will be like bridges to a new vision of the future, to a new and hopefully more creative and smoothly-functioning society.

Dates to look out for include the 4th and 5th of July, when Mars crosses Uranus then sextiles Neptune and trines Pluto - a trigger event that might initiate a cascade of change; the middle of the month when the main bridged trine perfects (i.e. is exact); and the 20th and 21st, when the opposition and second bridged trine perfects.
